The challenge:

To create a fun and interactive way to educate families about the sustainability work of Dublin Zoo.

What we did

Dublin Zoo and SSE Airtricity came together to create the Sustainability Trail.
The Sustainability Trail shows people what the Zoo does to improve the quality of the environment for all species.

To go along with the trail was the launch of the Eco Explorers app.
We wanted to create a fun and interactive way for families to learn all about what sustainability work the Zoo get up to.

As families follow the Sustainability Trail the app detects their location and sends them a notification as they come in close proximity to a sustainability station. At each station they:

• Receive fun information about the sustainability work of the Zoo
• Have an interactive feature – such as “Who Dung it?” a game where kids have to guess what animal did the poo!
• Are given a sustainability project they can do at home
• Answer a sustainability quiz question
• Upon the successful completion of a quiz question they earn a badge, these are used to win prizes.

The goal of is to collect as many badges as possible.
