Web Developer
Thanks to an increasing portfolio of clients, we’re now looking to expand our ZOO technology team.
The purpose of this role is to be an integral part of our technology team that create really great websites that integrate seamlessly with our client’s systems. We build anything from quick one-pagers to complex business critical systems with back-end processing, apps and reporting.
We work in a variety of systems including PHP, Laravel, .Net C#, BigQuery, MySQL, SQL Server, React and other frameworks. Our in-house team is flexible and willing to learn. We work for clients in Ireland and the US. We work hand-in-hand with the rest of the agency so we can provide effective services that help our clients succeed.
What you will do
- Reporting to the head of Development, help devise and create clever, human focused solutions for our client needs, using hardware and software.
- Work as part of a team and we work with the other disciplines including UX/UI, Marketing and project management to deliver the best for our clients.
- Be very comfortable working with UX and UI to help create some of the best user interfaces and systems out there.
- Work primarily in PHP and JavaScript Frameworks, and also happy to deal with in C# .net and some other languages and systems, depending on the needs of the project.
- Be enthusiastic about technology and programming and have a willingness to adapt, learn and to bring new ideas to our work.
- Design to deadlines whilst maintaining a high quality of creative design work.
- Work with all stakeholders to ensure project expectations are managed and delivered on time.
- Be proactive, collaborative and contribute ideas during the weekly design meetings to improve teamwork.
Knowledge/expertise/qualifications
- You must have 5 years or more experience working developing web experiences, preferably full stack.
- Strong knowledge of PHP (knowledge of frameworks is beneficial), vanilla JavaScript & jQuery.
- WordPress experience, custom theme and plugin creation.
- Knowledge of React or Vue would also be beneficial
- Experience with JS bundling tools such as Webpack, Gulp
- GIT version control
- Relational databases including MySQL and SQL Server
- CMS experience incl. Drupal / Sitefinity etc.
- Enjoy working with the UX/UI team to advise them and to turn complex UI into code
- Fluent English
Other desirable skills
- Experience with data manipulation
- Experience writing stored procedures
- Basic Linux server configuration and operations
- Experience optimising websites for speed and performance
- Knowledge of SEO and common reporting tools and how to create websites that will perform well in search
- An understanding of of accessibility and what it means to code an accessible website
